Young Scientists Leave ISRO for lucrative professions
Ashish , Newdelhi: Sep 6 2007

It is a sad scenerio for Indian scientific community. Some of the budding scientists have left I.S.R.O.(Indian Space Research Organisation) in droves.
Last year, around 354 young scientists were hired by the Indian space agency.
However, a big number- 187 -out of them opted out.
It is demoralising for the agency as many of them have joined other lucrative professions-Information Technology and communication sector.
Minister in P.M.O.(Primeminister’s office) diclosed this fact in Parliament.
Many young scientists bleive that they hard work and skills are underevalauated by the Government.
The minsiter later informed Parliament that Government has brought attention of the Sixth pay commission to this grave problem.
The ISRO plans to make it mandatory for students of newly established Indian Institute of space technology to serve ISRO for five years before passing out.
It is hoped that it will curb the attrition.
